Amerie Undergoes a Name Change?

Like many stars, Amerie has decided to change her name. But, it's not her actual name she's changing. It's the spelling of her name.

Goodbye Amerie and hello "Ameriie". Why the extra "i"?? She explains below to Rap-Up.com...

Slightly different spelling, completely same pronunciation!"

Even her Twitter name is changed (ItsAmeriie).

I'm all for "positivity" but, I admit I'm kinda lost by this. But, if it makes you happy.

I like Amerie's sound & flavor she brings to the game! It baffles me that she isn't where she used to be, which would be at the top!. It seems like "1 Thing" came & went, and so did her music career. Though her latest single "Why R U" is dope & makin' moves, I still feel that Amerie hasn't got back to her domain yet. But, you know like I know that she has the potential!

Concreteloop brought to my attention "Heard Em All" (Remix) f/ Weezy, which had me from the start of the song. It's really up-beat & I love it!! Wayne starts off rapping his verse, almost long enough to where you think it's HIS song. Then Amerie comes in on the beat so sassy. The drums are 'Full Effect' in this one, as they always are with Amerie!! She always does her, which I admire.

Atypical of R&B: NEW Amerie

Amerie has always had her own sound with her high pitch. What's typical for her is uptempo beats & instruments. You know, music you can feel. I think of her as our current "Tina Turner" because her videos prove she's just as edgy & can 'shake a tailfeather' with the best of 'em. She killed the game with "1 Thing" and now her latest single, [which samples Ego Trippin] "Why R U?", is no different. The track exudes Hip-Hop & Funk, and is something you can most definitely jam to. The graffiti, the microphone stand [Prince, eh?], the rockstar vibe, and the graphics in the video compliment the beat very well. I love the part towards the end where Amerie is stooped down low & vibin' to the music. It looks like she had a fun time shooting the video. & let's not forget the selections she wore in the video are dope. The bish is flyy. [4 Real tho]
