If you own & love Reasonable Doubt [Jay-Z's 1st album] like I do then you already know about "22 Two's". But, most importantly, you know about the INFAMOUS "44 Four's", the remake of the original. If you dont [God Bless you], then let me explain.
"22 Two's" [short story] was a song where Jay took the words: to, too, & two and ingeniously intertwined them into a verse [for a total of 22]. It was dope.
But, 10 years after Reasonable Doubt was released in 1996, Jay debuted "44 Four's". He added a new verse to the original song using words that begin with 'for--' or the number 4 itself.
Check the beginning of the verse & then the videos of him below performing "44 Four's" Live.
"Roc-A-Fella forever, Hov for life
Debut's a classic, first album four mics
I should have got a five, but niggas lacked foresight
But I don't give a f---,
I aint't do it for the hype..."
[A close look of Jay performing the song. The audience is goin crazy! Can you catch all the 4's?]
[This was taken at Radio City Hall for the actual anniversary of Reasonable Doubt. It's hard to see Jay but, the counter [countin all the 4's] enhances the song IMO. Check it out!]
Dope, right?
