So Soulful & So Original

(Picture from: JohnJohnsaidit.com)
I love Chrisette Michele. Her voice is amazing & her style is chic! She always looks like she's going out into town, very sophisticated.
[On the set of '106 & Park'. Love her black peep-toe heels & the face that just reads "Diva".]
[Ok. I'm not a big acrylic nail person myself so, I'm really diggin her nails. The bright color is so bold and the design adds a little flavor to it too. I love the big bold rings too! So fierce.]
[These are some pieces Chrisette put together on her twitter page. She says, "my nike kicks and then j brand white ripped jeans and then u roll up the sleeves on the plaid shirt and I got these kewt aviators. Ow! Super chill. Like casual movie date with a rapper rite?!". I agree this is another perfect example of cute casual. Who knew Chrisette wore Nikes??]

[I love this white shimmery jacket w/ the bangles to match. Classic black & white never fails!]

You Better Work!!!

I can't wait to start school this Fall. 1/2 of the reason is b/c I'll be a Sophomore & engaging in activities on campus & the other 1/2 is because of the fashionista I plan to reveal. [That would be me of course :) ]
I'm diggin a lot of celeb's sense of style. Both male & female. Shoot, the guys are holding it down too but, that's for later. These three ladies caught my attention. I love their music but, wow, can they pull together an outfit or what? I think so!
Check it out:

Okay, I saw this picture of Mary somewhere on-line [I can't recall where] and I automatically saved it as soon as I spotted it. I mean look at Mary! Is she doing IT or what? The fact that she is on stage with the stilettos [no doubt, she was dancing] killing the all black with the leather vest & gold jewelry?! C'Mon man! She better show 'em how it's done. Needless to say, I would so rock the entire fit [as it is!]

Next up is Miss Letoya Luckett who has a new album coming out soon. Her last [self-titled] album was bomb so, I might be inclined to cop the new one. But, this is a pic I saw on BVonStyle.com and this is so "cute casual". I love her vest too. I'm kinda getting into the long loose vests like that myself, and the black design just adds to everything. Her jeans & her heels are superr dope too. Love it!

On Concreteloop.com I spotted a gorgeous Lil Kim all dolled up for her birthday (July 11), which was said to have been in Miami. Now, she isn't rocking a pair of jeans but, she does look gorgeous in black herself. If you look at older posts you know I love her to death! She's Hip-Hop's black Barbie, at least in my eyes. Despite talks of her losing her beauty to plastic surgery I'm sure everybody agrees that she IS working this sheer corset cocktail dress! Hand on her hip & errthing, the lady is killin 'em too!

[[Off the red carpet, she has been really puttin in work. Word is she has an album in the works. Matter of fact I still listen to her last release (The Naked Truth), which was straight fire! I want to buy some of her earlier albums but, have you seen the covers? [seriously]. I would be embarrassed at the register. I still thinks she's dope though.]]

"Kinda Like A Big Deal" - The Clipse feat. Kanye

I don't often post music videos on here but, I felt the need to this time. I was getting ready to go to sleep [well, actually attempting to] and I saw this Clipse video w/ Kanye. And it's crazy because a few hours ago I was just thinking how much I missed [unconsciously] the "College Dropout" Kanye West. I don't know what it is but, I can get with that cd unlike his latest cds. [Although, I did like "Heartbreak" w/ K.Cudi though]

I was already drawn to the video as it was but, then I like Ye's verse too. It was catchy but, it sounded like that "Ol College Dropout 'Ye" if that makes any sense at all. Sometimes I find myself listening to "Spaceship" just to bring that feeling back.

I saw this on Globalgrind.com and someone kinda summed up my whole opinion on Kanye stating that, "I'M DIGGING THIS TRACK. KANYE NEEDS TO STAY TRUE TO HIP HOP...QUIT IT WITH THE F#$%ING TECHNO POP ROCK BULL#$%"
and I could not have said that any better.

Basically, I miss the old 'Ye and this song is just dope!

Change of Plans

Ok, so all my life I've wanted to be an Obstetrician. Always. Ever since Nick @ Nite started to air "The Cosby Show" back in 2002. [Yes, it was 2002.] I was in 7th grade at the time. And if you watched the show, you know that Cliff [Bill Cosby] was indeed an OB-Gyn, and for that and that only did I want to be one. Then it started to grow on me. You know the obvious reasons to want to pursue that profession w/ #1 being able to 'deliver babies' [bringing our future into the world. well, assisting.]. I also loved the possibility of having that responsibility. Being able to help women in need with their personal issues and to help them cope in one of the best moments of their life [child birth]. I had it all planned out, or atleast I thought I did until last month.

I really re-considered being an Obstetrician. Of course when you're just 12 years old, you don't consider everything about a profession. Little kids that dream of becoming Astronauts don't think of risky complications of departing inside the shuttle. Little black children don't consider their color as a factor when they want to be the next black President, which might not be such a bad thing after all. [Anything is possible...hint!] But, becoming an Obstetrician seemed to be a good idea. I would've been delivering babies...how hard could that be right? Wrong.

I have realized at 19 years of age, that I really want to be a mother. Now, I have always wanted to be just hear me out. I was raised in practically a single parent home. At 9 [wow, 10 years ago] I was staying home alone doing my hmwk alone, as my mother worked 2 jobs to keep everything going. I respect and love my mom for all that but, that's not where I see myself in the future. I never want to miss my child's first game because I had to work a late shift. Or miss out on an Awards ceremony because I simply am too busy to make it. I don't want that. And for that one reason [& others but, mostly this one], I have decided to shift careers.

[[I want to be able to live my life, with regular [or almost reg.] work hours, and have a great career. ]]

I want to be a Doctor definitely. I want to help people. I want to do all the cliche' things doctors are able to do. But, I don't want to sacrifice my life for that...esp. the important moments.

So, I have gone from "Similac to Pro-activ"....."On call" to "I'll call you". [ok I'm kiddin but, you get my drift]. I have decided to become a Dermatologist. And this change is something that hit me b/c when I decided not to be an Obstetrician, in a sense I was lost. I was always the girl that knew what she wanted to do...and for a good while this summer, I was lost. I kept telling people I wanted to be an Obstetrician but, I knew I had no idea really. But, now I know.

I'm actually excited, even more so, to help people with their skin, and related issues. I have gone through acne problems. I remember I used to have good skin and then in middle school it hit me badly. I remember going to school w/ three pimples arranged in a triangle...that was a bad day. Or picture days....praying for a pimple not to appear. I think it's a great field! And very interesting to do clinical research. There are so many skin disorders and I think it would be kinda cool to find a cure or a cream, something to remove it. I can't wait!

So.....no more baby doctor! But, I thank Bill Cosby for starting my dream of wanting to become a doctor. I know I wasn't put on Earth to be anything but a doctor. That's just in me. I think when I get my office, I'm going to put up his picture in my office as inspiration. Even though he wasn't a real doctor, he inspired me!

How to get THEM to look Twice: Doc Marten [Boots]

Recently, I've been really adament about finding 'the' boot to wear next Fall at school. I discovered a brand that even celebrities opt to wear. The brand is Doc Marten's and the boots are dope, to say the least.
I have always loved how a guy looks in his shoes. There is something about the way the jeans sit just right over the shoes. It's a swagger that shines through which captivates me. Take this picture of Kanye West. Now I know he can get a little out of hand but, you gotta admit, the dude knows a little something about clothes & the fashion industry. Not to mention he's a trendsetter in his own right. But, I was really inspired by his Timbs. It wasn't the fact he was wearing the boots itself but, in the way he "sported" them. I love it! I wanna do this next year with my look.

(Pic from: Concreteloop.com)

I think it's cool for women to get inspiration from men. I mean the boyfriend jean was a direct example of that. And I think a pair of sturdy boots that scream "I'm all about my business" would look great on any females foot, if done properly.

That's where we pay a visit to the Doc. Not Dr. Jay, Dre, or Pepper. (Sorry, I just had to clear that up!) Doc Martens is a brand well known for it's boots. What ever you want, they have it! Pastels, Industry, Tassels, or the original if you're a simple girl like myself.

Check a few of these fly boots out. Which, if I may add would look so perfect with a pair of colorful skinny jeans and a big shirt. Can't wait to snag my pair!

[Doc Martens Triumph 1914] --These would look so flyy as they are pictured, w/ just the tongue rolled down. I also love the plaid detail. I think this would be a great Winter boot & the height is just right to keep the feet warm & to look stylish with easy effort.

[Doc Martens Dm Triumph 1914] --I love the color on this one [almost like a slate grey] and the ribbon laces too. There's something different about them that really intrigues me.

[Doc Martens Triumph 1460] --These are my favorites but, they just so happen be sold out in my size. I can definitely picture these with some fitted/skinny jeans and a plaid blouse. Kinda like "sweet/sour". That ruggedness mixed w/ a hint of a feminine touch. [I pray these are not discontinued. Gotta have em!]

Like right after I discovered Doc Marten's (which was recently), Concreteloop did a post on DM's. Check it out here.
